Nicest $50 Brush

B&B Essential - whenever one shows up on BST!

I LIKE that B&B Essential Brush alot!

Can someonme explain what happened to production, and if the brush will ever be produced again?

I think it looked sharp with the translucent plexi handle!

I had an Omega #599, it wasnt bad but a bit floppy.
Penworks is a good value in your suggested price range.
Quite a few Vulfix brushes out there for under $50.
Simpsons Wee Scot perhaps?

The Simpson Commodore X1 I'm about to list on the b/s/t is a great value ($50 shipped). Penworks brushes look nice, although I don't own one. I found the B&B Essential too scratchy for $50.

It was a one off - end of '08, beginning of '09, if I remember correctly. A fantastic brush for $58 delivered. I don't know how many were made or sold, but you do see them pop up on BST relatively frequently.

Good brush - great ergonomics. And the maker remains a closely guarded secret, by the way.

I would watch the B/S/T for vintage brushes re-knotted with the Finest knot from TGN. Or for a bit less than $50 you can buy a vintage brush and re-knot it yourself.

Still lots of choices. Looks like there is no definete clear cut winner. But interesting none the less. I like the idea of a vintage with a reknot. Where do you get the reknots from?

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled in BST...

I have one of their brushes that I only paid $35.00 for and it's great !!!! If you order from them make sure you tell them you are a member here as they often give us a 10% discount !!!
Have Fun

I'm not sure if they're the best, but I'm strongly considering a KimSon myself. $50 for silvertip and genuine horn.

Handles are very nice, and for couple of weeks I try to resist ordering just a handle; because I am afraid this "Vietnamese" knot will become a mop without any backbone, after using it for a while. This hair is not tested as much as hair from other well known manufacturers.

I would rather order their horn handle and stuffed it with a best badger knot which leans to a denser side, or even pure badger knot formed by hand, not machine trimmed hair. But I have trouble locating a dense best or pure badger knot which is provenly hand formed.
