What's new

Nice smelling new brush?

Anyone ever get one? Just picked up a best badger that smells good, not even neutral but a little pleasant even, which strikes me as a little odd.

It's not unusual for a brand new brush to smell good straight out of the package. It probably got a nice bath and shampoo right before it left the factory.

Once you use it a few times, though, that funky badger smell will rear its ugly head. But nothing to worry about, its normal, and should soon be covered up by the aroma of whatever soaps or creams you use it with.

I've had that happen, and I've had just the other happen(real stinker), but as has been mentioned its no problem either way. After a few shaves whatever soap or cream you're using will give your brush that nice broken in smell. :thumbup1::thumbup1:

Well. One of my Badgers really, really reeked and I've had Simpsons that smelled almost "aftershavish." My boar didn't smell (Vulfix). It seems they are all different. I wonder if it has to do with sterilization or maybe, as David says, I wonder if some companies actually do have a process to make them smell better before they go out?
