Unacceptably Lasering Chicken Giblets?
Yesterday dad and I were sitting in his living room drinking coffee and chatting about his father and grandfather.
During our conversation, the topic turned to shaving. I had recently give dad a flair tip, blade samples, and MWF in a ceramic bowl. He has an old Everready brush.
He told me that he remembers his grandfather and father shaving with a straight and that his father taught him to shave with a straight. He added that his very 1st razor was a straight.
He then told me that during WW2 jobs and money were really tight. He and his dad were getting a haircut one morning and after his father took a look at the barber chair, moving it, and adjusting the height. Dad said that his father then went home, built a "barber" chair, sharpened a pairs of scissors, and then opened a barber shop giving shaves and haircuts.
my father ended that part of our conversation by saying that the straight he has was his grandfather's, his father's, and that it will now be mine. He said that the "sides" are genuine ivory.
The only part of this story that sucked was that dad said that my mother had packed it away years ago ( packed very well and secure) and neither of them have any idea where it is. He told me that he wants me to have it and has expressed that wish to my brother but that I will have to wait until he and mom are gone and we go through their stuff.
I told my father that although I would love to have this family heirloom I want him around for many years and that since I have only girls, I want him around until we can give it to a grandson. I have 3 daughters and none of them are married.
i damn near cried
