Nice Badger for Soaps that Will Fit Stand

Hello All,

I'm looking for a nice badger brush that performs well with soaps (MWF is my favorite currently) and will fit in my metal razor/brush stand.

I have this stand. The opening is 22-23mm wide and 30mm deep.

Currently working with this brush, which is very nice, but I'm looking for an upgrade. Looking for a nice sized knot that isn't too small, but isn't too huge. All suggestions welcome.

If you like boar hairhave you ever thought about getting a mixed hair knot. One that includes both boar and badger hair

I was leaning more toward a badger, because I haven't tried one yet. I'd like to get a nice one...but one that actually works well with soaps. I've heard that the vulfix ones are too floppy for soaps. I've heard good things about the simpson duke...but not sure.

If I could have my way, I would get a really nice badger that works well with soaps (I'm a soap guy) so I don't have to get another. I like to alternate between face lathering and bowl lathering, so I would like a versatile brush with some backbone. I've heard a lot of people talk about floppy brushes...and I'd like to avoid those.

Here are some brushes that I'm thinking of:

Simpson Duke 2 or Duke 3
Simpson Chubby 1 with 2 band Super
Shavemac Finest 22709 22mm
Shavemac Silvertip 177 w/ 21mm or 23mm
Shavemac D01 SB1-944-22 the 22mm fan knot
Rooney Shaving Brush, Style 1, Small, "Super Silvertip"

Any advice would be appreciated!

I decided to go with the simpson duke 3. I like the handle style...more traditional less modern. It also seems to get good reviews as being a very versatile brush. I'm sure the others are good performers too. Hope I made a good choice.

Only had my Duke 3 for 4 days and I'm absolutely delighted. I use creams but predominantly a soap user. It's worked well with both, despite not being broken in yet.

Let us know how it goes on the fit (i.e., does it fit at the waist or do you have to place it upside down by the knot). And, handsome choice. I like the traditional handle shapes myself.

Regards.

Thanks, I'll let you know when I get it in. I'm guessing I'll have to hang it by the knot, rather than the handle. That is one nice thing about my little vulfix, is that it fits in the stand by the bottom of the handle. Fits quite nice. I'm sure I'll alternate brushes though, so It will still get some stand time.
