I am 62 years old and have never tried aftershave, the closest I have come is Nivea shaving balm.

Have I missed out

I live in the UK any recommendations for an aftershave if you think it's worth me trying one

Pinaud Clubman, Old Spice, and Proraso green are 3 popular alcohol based aftershaves. The balm you are using, Nivea, is a fine balm IMO. Although my favorite balm is Duke Cannon.
There's lots of good aftershaves out there to try. Enjoy your quest.

Try some and find out. Samples are available to north Americans, not sure about UK.

I, personally, love the way alcohol splashes make my face feel. In the early days I assumed the stuff with all the "skin foods" would be better, but was surprised to find that my skin reacts very well to simple splashes that are mostly alcohol.
