Hello all. I just purchased a sight unseen from Whippeddog. I posted earlier this week that I'm a newbie to wet shaving and still waiting for my first DE safety razor to arrive. Well after searching around more I decided to give a straight razor a try also. Now I have even more information to soak up on how to properly straight razor.

Homework while waiting: read read read, watch videos. Also, practice with a dinner knife (dull! Not serrated steak knife or meat cleaver! Although honed had some fun... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOumJ0B1Cj8 ) wiping lather off your face: fun, plus gets you a bit used to the skin stretching, and if you bang it into your face, fingers, or faucet, it won't matter. Keep the face of the blade almost flat against your cheek.
