E**y purchases from US had to pay VAT 20% and £8 Royal Mail handling !!!

I have heard several horror stories about the UK's protectionist policies and onerous duties and taxes. Fortunately in the US we have a $100 daily mail-order exemption (of which several have informed me after placing large orders that the duty requirement is not heavily enforced) so I haven't had to deal with that myself.
