What's new

Newbie being picky

Hey everyone. I finally did my first shave yesterday with a DE razor and so far am loving it and am definitely caught up in all of the products out there. I'm trying to find a new brush, however, as I have a sample start set itty bitty tiny one from art of shaving. The things I would like is a price range from $30 to $70, a black or steel handle (it's going to get a nice stand, which I also need, and be in my bachelor pad bathroom), and be a best badger hair brush. I am planning on using creams and bowl lathering. I was looking at this brush, the edwin jagger best badger medium sized brush, but saw a couple of reviews that were steering me away.

Any other recommendations on what to check out? Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It's worthwhile considering a cheap Semogue or Omega boar, they're great brushes. For badger, you might want to consider a brush from Whipped Dog. They're nice knots in okay handles, priced extremely well for someone looking to dabble in badger without breaking the bank. If you've got the chops, you could order the handle and knot separately and assemble it yourself. It might have a nice sentimental value down the road.

I was checking out the whipped dog. Any recommendations on the pure vs. the silvertip badger? Seems like for the price, it'd be worth getting silvertip.

The only pure I would buy is from Shavemac

Most other pures have cut tips, and those arent comfortable.

Go with the silvertip from whipped, or a finest (2 band) from TGN

I'll give a plug for the Frank Shaving knots in Finest grade, which should be in your price range and come in a wide array of handle types.

edit: Amazon is having a great deal on a batch of WSP Prince brushes right now...$60 for 2-band Finest! And Prime shipping too!
