Just bought a slim adjustable from Elmerwood, My first old razor. It's going to be a long couple of days. I'm already thinking of which blade and setting to start with. This is my first adjustable any suggestions?

I read somewhere never to twist the adjustment knob when the TTO doors are closed- it's bad for the razor. Slims are awesome razors. They have a nice handle and a good weight. The fatboy and slim are my top two.
Make sure to try the full adjustment range. Some people swear you can only get a good shave on 3 or 9, but they all have their place IMO.
What were you using before?
I do a N-S (mainly WTG) on 8 or 9, a S-N on 6, then touch-up on 3.
It sounds more complicated than it is.

5 is my magic number with the Slim. I use Astra SP in mine.

Start with a 4 and keep it there until you get used to it unless the shave it just awful. Then try up or down next for a while and see what you like. As for your blade I would start with what you like in the EJ
