New to soaps

You guys that put your soaps in mugs, do you leave them uncovered in the mug? Or do you have something that acts like a lid to put over it? I have an empty mug and would like to buy a soap to put in it.

Totally personal preference. I leave my soap uncovered, unless I won't be using it for a week or so, then I cover it. The only reason I cover it then is because of dust.

uncovered for sure, for me, hard triple milled ones, now i have heard MWF cracks thats why it has a lid , maybe, but my C&E, arko lasts for many months or years and the scent stays strong----the Harris puck , scent leaves fast
--- i also use razorock, it has remained good in the open (my tallow puck got small so i filled the outside with RR) but normally i keep it in a closed onion bowl ( easy lid , no screw on) and it stays fresh
the soaps i am using now are C&E Nomad, Arko/lanolin mixture (grated) and Harris arlington (grated) weak scent

i have heard MWF cracks thats why it has a lid

MWF cracks even with the lid - at least, mine has. But it makes no difference to how well it works.
