What's new

New razor in today!

Unfortunately it was post-shave, but I'm still stoked! Edwin Jagger DE89LBL. I've heard so much about this razor and it was originally one of my choices for first razor, but decided to go vintage route. I'm stoked to shave tomorrow with something contemporary. On looks alone I can understand why this razor gets so much praise. Very clean and elegant. Here are some pics :D

beauty. I've got a edwin jagger de8911-barley chrome on its way. supposed to be heavier than my merkur classic so I guess I'll be blade shopping again. lol!
how do u like the eton college smell of TOBS? I'm picking up some avocado due to the earthy smell I enjoyed when I whiffed it at the pharmacy. supposed to shave nice.

I am so happy with my EJ DE89 I am buying another for the road/work (plus for the price you can't beat it). I will probably get the 86 (black handle). Ricardo, not sure what blades you currently use on your Merkur but ASTRA SP blades seem to work great for me. Two pass with some minor touch ups and I am good to go for the day, I do however use them for only two shaves and toss no matter what.

I'm waiting for mine to arrive. Soap.com split my order in two, I received blades a few days ago and the razor is slated to arrive 7/16.

The EJ 89 is a great razor thats my daily user. Curios though on tge H.I.S brush have heard mixed reviews. What do u think about it?

From the looks of those fine razors, you must like 'em mild. I have a Muhle R107, which I believe has the same head as the EJ's. Though I liked the finish on the razor, it was a little mild for me. Or, maybe, for some reason I found it hard to maintain the "sweet spot" with the cutting angle during the stroke. I would have to do a LOT of touch up at the end of the shave. It's Barbisoled, re-packaged, and currently listed on the BST for sale!

It's a really unique smell in my experience so far. It has a bright, but light, citrusy note in there but mellows out into a sort of woody/fresh smell. It's nuts but so attractive.

Absolutely phenomenal. Even though it's my first brush, I'm pretty stoked on it. Super soft, solid backbone, great water retention, and it makes mountains of lather. I used that little brush that comes in the AOS beginner pack with twice as much product and produced half as much lather. The synthetic fibers don't absorb lather as badger does so it doesn't hog either. Honestly, at $35, if you can afford it you need to try it.

Edwin Jagger seems to be the best when it comes to moderately-priced modern razors.

At first I was having buyer's remorse on my DE83, wishing I went with a Merkur HD instead..but seeing how many people have QC issues with their Merkurs and how much love EJ gets I no longer regret the decision.
