What's new

New Problem

I was completely fine with the last 10 years of wet shaving with a DE razor. I had one razor, one inexpensive brush, one type of blade, and one type of soap. I was perfectly fine with that.

Then I found this site. That's where the problem starts. I bought a vintage razor on a whim and didn't know anything about it so I joined here. After reading through some threads I bought 2 more razors, started buying many aftershaves (never used them previously). I also have many blades and a new expensive brush on its way, as well as a few different soaps.

All I can say is this site is definitely a bad influence, not that I'm complaining. Has any one else had this problem?

The Doctor is in, and he says it's a bad case of AD. We all get it eventually. Some hold out longer than others though! I have 6 razors and have been DE shaving for a little over a month

Definitely not a problem! You still have less than 20 razors, right? If so, you need to order a few more, or go on more hunting trips in your local antique shops. There. My job on B&B is done for the day! I've shamelessly enabled another member who thinks he is "suffering" from RAD.

That's it, you're banned from the minimalist club!!!

Hey hey hey I've already explained all of my buys to the minimalist club. I still use one razor one soap and one brush. Just wanted to try some new stuff, not use it all at once. Pretty sure I still have less than your list Emanon.

........lay down on my couch and tell me about your Mother....

I think you're the only one here who has experienced that problem. Seriously, once upon a time, before I joined B&B, I also had one razor (a cart), one brush, and one puck of soap. Pictured below is my current inventory. The container has about 1K blades (with a desiccant pack to remove moisture). And I also use the razors in the mug display.

You are a truly sick man! I am inspired now. :wink2:

Don't worry, you're just starting. I've got blades for 25 years, soap and creams for 20, a lifetime supply of brushes and razors, aftershaves by the gallon and I'm only a couple of years on this forum. So I made good inroads but have a long way to go to counter the Shavocalyps :wink2:.

Im not just starting, I've been wet shaving with a DE razor for 10 years. My problem started when I joined this site.

Hi,

Yes. That is the just starting part. Starting here! Me, too, buddy. Me, too. :confused1

I have been shaving since 76. I had a few razors, mostly family leftovers. I would use a Red Tip first pass, a Tech second. Two brushes. One kind of soap. All at home in North Carolina. I never looked at such stuff. Not yard sales. Not eBay. No place. I did not care.

Now, my work takes me to Texas. It will be a couple years. So, an apartment is necessary. I need shaving stuff in the apartment. I want to be able to fly back and forth carrying nothing. I had some Fusion handles and carts in a drawer. Freebies. I opened them up, scarfed the carts and figured good enough. Grabbed a brush and a spare mug of local soap and off I went.

I did not want to take my normal stuff from the farm, see. I used the Fusion for nearly a year. Then I did not want to buy those carts any more. I wanted another couple DE razors like I had at home. I had the soap and brush here. Just needed a couple razors. Off to eBay. Wow! Dozens of different types I had never seen. Ran a search to find out more. Found B+B right away. Other sites, too. But B+B always had more and better info, and was easier to use.

That started it. Instead of another Red Tip, I got a New Long Comb. I did get another Tech. Tried some other blades. Wound up with a Slant, something I had not heard of before. Tried some different handles. Still searching for a Yardley soap replacement. Thinking about a new horsehair brush. It is not ending. Now there is that new Ikon Stainless Steel Slant......

I was happy not knowing so much. Ignorance is bliss. But, it is too late for that now. I wonder every day what I will read about that I never knew about, and want to try.....

Have Fun!

Stan

Some come quietly, some kicking and screaming, but they all come......

Maybe Stephen King has material here for a new book?
