What's new

New pipe smoker here

Hey guys didn't know that B&B have a tobacco forum, i'm new to pipe smoking, my brother give up the smoking and i give it a try, think i'm pretty hook, love the smell, the taste, and how i look LOL, the pipe is a cheap sanda so i'm looking for a new pipe that is under $60 so i heard recommendations.

BTW i'm smoking captain black cherry and mac baren original choice and looking for a stronger taste of tobacco, don't like to much aromatic, so any recommendations on this field would be also appreciated.

For under $60 you can get great smokers with corncob and clay pipes... Do you have a tobacconist near you that you can check out the selection of pipes and tobaccos? That would be number one, my only test of if I like a pipe or not is how does it feel in my hand. My local shop wouldn't sell me a crap pipe so I'm lucky that way. I haven't had either of those tobaccos but I have been smoking Frog Morton and it is amazing. I would also look online to see what style of pipes you like then see if you can pick up any estate pipes from Ebay.

Happy Smoking!

There are a few websites that specialize in "vintage" (used!) pipes. You can pick up something quite nice for $60 -- an old Savinelli, Peterson, Comoy, or something like that.

Antique shops are another source - I've bought English briar pipes for anywhere from $5 to $20.

Clean the pipe out with a pipe cleaner and alcohol, rub some alcohol on the bit, and you should be good to light up.

I say the Estate Comoys, GBD, Brebbia, and Petersons off ebay will give you the most bang for your buck. www.briarblues.com is a great etailer to deal with for estate pipes(no affiliation). For tobacco read the reviews at www.tobaccoreviews.com and you can then make an educated guess at what to try. At the bottom of the TR home page it list tobacco by rating. Try that.

Some advice I picked up here in a similar post a few month's ago was to check out smokingpipes.com. They have a large selection of new and estate pipes. The benefit of buying an estate pipe there (instead of an antique shop) is the pipe get shipped to you fully sanitized and ready to smoke. Ps. They have Nording pipes too!
