New Pen question

So I've decided to graduate from disposable fountain pens(yay me!) and I was looking at the Cross Century. I like this pen mainly because I love the same in ballpoint so I thought it would be a natural progression. It's 50$ at Office Depot and I got a coupon for 15 off a 75$ purchase so I thought I might utilize that. I know I can get it off eBay for about 40$ but eh. To make up the rest of the purchase I was going to get a label-maker for the wife but I came across this neat little calligraphy set made by Staedtler. I was hoping for any opinions as to whether or not this is worth it. It seems awfully cheap at 19$ however I learned from the Zebra v-301 that cheap price can mean garbage product(and I normally like zebra pens.)

No experience with that brand but italic calligraphy pens are fun... if you get them I can show you how to use them

Wow, has the quality on the Cross Centurys slipped? I just ask because the one I bought around 1988 was $50.

I believe Cross pens are now made in China which likely helps the cost of production and Syngent do you have some good videos for me?

I think that there are better pens for $50. Check out Monteverde and TWSBI. The Cross isn't terrible, but I was underwhelmed with mine.
