Somebody accidentally put out the new Gillette Fusion Proglide a little early, they aren't supposed to be out until Monday, June 6th. Anyway I bought one, they were on sale. The handle is basically the same as the Fusion razor, except it looks a little nicer, grips are better. The old Fusion cartridges fit on the new Proglide razor and vice versa. The cartridge is a little less wide than the older Fusion carts. Also the width of the individual blades are a tad smaller.
Basically, it looks to me that they are using a bit less plastic and metal in the cartridges. They say that the new Proglide razors shave better and is an advancement over the Fusion razors. But in all honesty, I think Gillette is trying to cut back on materials on their carts to maximize profits even further. It looks like they are using about 20% less plastic and metal on their new Proglide cartridges. Again I think the new Proglide will shave about the same, but using less materials, Gillette can say this is an "advancement", but basically it's all about cutting back on materials and making more money on the carts. I will shave with the new razor later this week and see if their is a big difference over the older Fusion, but I doubt it. If you already have a Fusion razor, it's best not to waste your money buying the Proglide. I think a better alternative would be the Hydro for a cart razor.
