Need splash recommendations

I do not much care for aftershave lotions or balms. I find them to be a bit too oily for my liking.

Currently, I use Floid Blue on a daily basis. I shave my face in the morning and I shave my head in the evening. Both get Floid Blue.

I love the Floid Blue. I like the feel and the "classic" scent. Luckily my wife loves it as well.

That said, I would like to expand my aftershave options. I don't want to get burned out on the Floid, and it is also sometimes hard to get, so I'd like to fall in love with something else as well.

So my goal is to get a list of 5 solid recommendations to try.

I don't love overly flowery scents and I don't care for "extremely overpowering" scents.

So what 5 AS splashes would you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Rob

As a side note, I usually use Proraso Pre Shave Cream and either Proraso Green Shave Soap or Mitchell's Wool Fat soap.

In addition, for what it's worth, I live in New England. Cold climate this time of year.

Sounds like you like a clean scent, spiek is good. Proraso makes a good aftershave for the summer also, ogallala bay rum limes is real nice if you like bay rum

Which Speick formulation? When I do a search for it, I only find Lotion or Balm.

I've not tried a Bay Rum yet, so I definitely plan to.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Gillette cool wave splash is alcohol ,comes in a glass bottle, smells clean, mossy and masculine and costs 6 bucks or so at most drug stores, it is a no brainer in my opinion.
Red

Aqua Velva Ice Blue, Skin Bracer, Brut, Clubman, Old Spice, and Barbasol Pacific Rush: all great choices, available locally, and considered by many to be must tries!!

Have you tried the 4711? Think orange citrus/froot loops that fades very quickly. It's awesome.

Also, I'd suggest giving Captain's Choice Bay Rum a thought. It is a longer lasting, stronger scent, but bay rum is classic.

My personal recommendation, and the only one I recommend is this Japanese aftershave called "Mandom Lucido." You can find it on ebay or www.royalshave.com

Anyways, it's an unscented, alcohol based aftershave splash. It doesn't sting though, and it's got this nice cooling effect with the menthol. It also doesn't dry out your skin, as it contains glycerin. I love this stuff. And because it's unscented, it doesn't interfere with my colognes.

Speick
Proraso
Myrsol (pick your color.... I like Blue, Agua Balsamica for light scents)
TOBS Mr. Taylor (a little stronger scent here.... but great and not overpowering IMO)
Pino Sylvestre

As a Floid Blue fan, like me, I think you have to also try the Floid Vigoroso! This is the one I have at WCS. The Italian version from Italian Barber, called Amber, is supposedly only slightly different. Its another great classic scent.

A good Bay Rum is a must try. I highly recommend Captains Choice above all others.

Speick as previously suggested is good too. Personally I sold it because it was too warm a scent for me.

My favorite AS product of all though, is the Razorock Aftershave Lotion in either King Louis or 888 (lavender and eucalyptus respectively). I personally feel this is the most healing, refreshing, skin caring AS around.

Another all time favorite is Florida Water. Its a spicy citrus type scent. Great in summer. Its smells great and apparently has a gazillion uses other than AS LOL.

Hope those help ya!

A big +1 to Old Spice. It's a classic masculine fragrance that will never go out of style. I saw a tagline for it once, "It's what your grandfather wore, and probably why you're alive".

Another recommendation is Lucky Tiger. Very inexpensive, feels great and refreshing, and is all-weather. Extremely lightly fragranced.

AV Ice Blue
Barbasol Brisk
4711
Old Spice or Vijon Spice (good cold weather scent)
Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum (good cold weather scent)
