What's new

Need info on first Bay purchase

I'm new to this site (and wet shaving in general) and finally made my first purchase from Ebay. It was a lot of 3 Gillette razors:

Z-3 (1954) TTO (not color coded)
E-1 (1959) TTO
J-1 (1964) 3-piece

I'll be awaiting these razors in the mail, but looking to find out what people think of them. I have not been able to find any lengths and weights on them. What have your experiences been with these razors? Do these razors have any special "names" (Slim, NEW, SS, etc?) All in all with shipping came to just over $28. Being new to this, i'm not sure if that is a good find or not for those specific years/makes, but hopefully time will tell. I will post pictures once I receive them in the mail.

Post some pictures from the Auction, Date codes dont give us a picture of what they look like, just tells us the Year and Quater they were made. You can also post a link to the Auction "If it Ended" No live Auctions allowed Unless its a Buy it now price. Without pics there is no way of Telling what you have :eek:/

The Z-3 is my Birthday Razor. Mine is a TV Special, but the one you have could be that or a 40s style Superspeed.

The E-1 could be a Superspeed or a Fatboy. If its adjustable, its a Fatboy.

The J-1 is a Tech. Nothing else it could be.

You can look up the different date-codes and model names on this chart.

Now that the auction is over, you are safe to post a link so we can get a peek at what they look like.

By the sounds of it, I didn't stumble upon beginners luck. :thumbdown But we have to start our collections somewhere, right?? Anywho, I might try to give the Z-3 to my father as a birthday present, right year, wrong quarter.

Thanks guys.... I am excited to get them into my daily routine. The condition is what made me jump so soon, otherwise I could have waited a few more months before making my first purchase online. I've only been using a brush and soap/creams for a little shy of a month and a DE for about 2 weeks. So I have quite a long ways to go. It will be nice once I can find my birth razor, but I know that can take some time...
