Need help IDing Gillette Razor

Hi Gents,

I've tried to do my research on this razor, but I can't seem to get enough information off the razor itself to properly ID it. I'm not sure if it's a knockoff/fake or what. If the experts of B&B could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

Looks a bit strange. As stated above there is no patent info or made in stamp or diamond logo. The Gillette lettering on the top is typical of all the travel razors I have have. It may be a mis matched handle and top. I will consult my collection when I get home this evening.

Regards
Dave

That is a bit of an odd one. No "made in." No patent info. No Gillette diamond.

That's what I found strange. Even more strange, is that it seems to have some sort of date code that matches up with the type of handle it has for the year. If anyone else could help me figure this one out, I'd greatly appreciate it. It does look like a Gillette, but the underside doesn't look quite right. I'm totally lost on this one.:bored:

It could be a british made tech. I know the ones in canada and us both have a made in usa or canada stamp. Not sure about british though

You would think that it'd have the Gillette logo though, I can't figure this one out and it's driving me crazy.

Where are you, Mr-Razor, when we need you?

Head lettering and shape is typical of Gillette's British style, handle is also correct. Baseplate though is firt sen by me and i own several Techs.

Maybe dissasemble it and take more pics of the baseplate so we can help.

Ok, I am out of town right now but I will disassemble and take pics as soon as I can. The razor overall seems to match the J2 date code, and was advertised as made in England, although I have no idea how they got the idea it was made in England without the stamp. Also, the box is incorrect, that is the made in Canada box.

Mystery solved. I took it apart to clean and polish it and look what I found
