What's new

Need advice on what to buy!

Hi!

I currently have a Merkur 38C, which I believe is a 3 on the agressiveness scale.
This works fine on my face, but sometimes it is too harsh on my neck skin. Especially in the areas left and right of my adams apple, where the skin is really thin!
I also suffer from some razor bumps after shaving.

Have been shaving for 3-4 months.

This is what I am looking for:
A milder razor, maybe adjustable.
New brush, type badger hair.
And I've heard good things about witch hazel, so I would like to try that aswell.
+ a Styptic pencil.

Also, I would like to buy this from someone here on the forum, and who is willing to ship to Norway.

I would recommend a Gillette Slim for your next razor. Now there are aftershaves with witch hazel in them such Proraso Balm.
I don't know if Westcoastshaving delivers to Norway but Pacific company makes a good styptic pencil. I'd recommend a smaller badger brush less than 20mm. I have a big 24mm knot but it is unwieldy. I have a couple of brushes, one is "super" and one is regular, in my view they perform the same.

definitely get a slim or fatboy. i get ingrowns and razor bumps and those razors are very mild. not too bad on the face, but also consider looking into sampler pack of blades because that might be also part of your problem

Well, would I be able to tell the difference between a shave with my merkur 38c vs a slim?

And I already have been through a sampler pack, and the best blades for me where Gilette platinum and feathers, with feathers giving me a closer shave, and gilette giving me a less close shave, but more comfortable.

EDIT: I also have extremely thick hair, and an extreme hair growth. So take that in mind when you come with a reccomendation!

If you want to stick with Merkur you could try the 23c...it has the long handle like the 38c but is lighter making it more mild...this is the razor I currently use...as for the witch hazel and stypic pencil...the generic drug store brands should work just fine...I would use a good balm after though such as Proraso or Nivea..
