Naniwa Chosera Slurry stone use?

i have been experimenting with the slurry stone (~600 grit) for a bit. it appears to clean and refresh the choseras very well. i have even used it a bit for creating a light slurry without any noticeable ill effects yet. i just tried it on a La nouvelle coticule.

curious if anyone thinks about the binder and abrasive particles. it seems to behave very differently from a whetstone and suck up water. a fine layer of the slurry stone is left on the main stone and doesn't seem to cause scratches. i mostly have been doing figure eights

any thoughts on these things?

Some say it's around 600x - I don't know if that's accurate or what but it does seem a bit more coarse than the 1k.
It sort of reminds me of the King 1k red brick to be honest.
Like you - I see no ill affects from using it to raise a slurry on the 1k C though.
I stopped using it for that - I cut the end off of one of my 1k stones to make a slurry stone. I use it sparingly to start the bevel-set process off.

I've never used mine....I usually just use a DMT 325 to raise a slight slurry on my 1k Chosera before bevel setting. Maybe I'll give it a try though...I actually posted a thread on SRP a while ago about using the Slurry stone as a hone in and of itself (hold it in your hand & do circles on it), and I was heavily discouraged from doing so...

I use mine all the time, just not to slurry - they do something to the hone's surface that can't be replicated using a DMT - you can feel it after you clear the swarf and rinse.
Whatever it is that it's doing - I like.

I chucked mine when I got the Chosera 1K. I've actually never used slurry on any of the synthetic stones I have used.

honestly it's wicked awesome for a quick swarf clean/refresh…

anyone who wants to chuck theres? i will gladly pay for shipping it me.

I got mine with my chosera 1K and use it to quickly clean the stone, a few rubs with it and the stone's surface is like new. I do not hone on that slurry except when I have to remove a lot of metal but always finish on a clean rinsed stone.
It's even better when using superstones as they will load up fast and once glazed don't seem to do any cutting but cleaned (and rinsed) with this they are good to go again.
Just make sure your stones are flat as this will clean the stone but does not flatten them.

I use the dmt fine (600?) and extra fine (1200?) to clean up swarf, and sometimes to raise a slurry on thuringian. seems to work okay.

Tossed all of mine in the trash. The one that I used on the 1k would leave grit in the 1k stone, in the end DMT replaces it just fine.

i have been really inspecting the stones to see if i see traces of something like that. I'll keep looking.

every chosera came with the same stone from 1K to 10K.

I've never used mine. The "splash and go" seems to work great for me when setting a new bevel.
