What's new

Name that coticule...lol

I just picked this one up.
I've only taken a second to play with it. I wouldn't call it a creamy feeling stone but I wouldn't consider it a gritty feel either ( I consider most Verte's gritty feeling)
I'm not a big stone ID'er, I'm more of a "how does it feel and how does it work" kind of guy.
That being said, I how they're are a few out there that ID coticule veins from a mile away..:biggrin1:
So, those that can, what do you think.
As for now, I'm calling it my American flag stone.. red, white and blue.
Top 1/3 has a blue hue, middle off white and the bottom 1/3 has a red hue.

Thanks for the nice words. She's pretty good size, 200x60. I figure I'll run a couple razors over it tonight and see how she works.

LOL...
She has to be able to stay around a little while to get a name..
For the most part, "most" coticle work about the same for me. The bigger thing is the "feel" of the stone.
I don't think I've had a coticule that I couldn't get a good shaving edge out of...but that "feel" things seem to be a little more allusive..lol
There are very few stones I've sold/traded/ broke that I regret. Just so happens the only 2 I can think of were both coticules and it had little to do with performance..lol

I had to ask
I have a coticule myself, where like yours, on one end, it looks to have little 'dots' on them
the downside is, I can FEEL those little dots, they are elevated, when I rub over the stone

is yours perfectly smooth?
otherwise I might sand mine down a bit until the dots are gone, I wouldn't dream about honing my razors on that

The "feel" of the stone isn't related to the dots. The stone itself is smooth, the dots are not elevated.
I shaved off the stone last night. It wasn't bad for a quick test
