Nakaya Fountain Pens

I have been thinking of buying a Nakaya Long Piccolo, or a Naka-ai. Either of them would be finished in the Heki-tamenuri or Ao-tamenuri. Do Any of you have a Nakaya pen? Im also having some conflict of interes in going with a .9mm or 1.0mm Stub vs CI

Isaac I salavate over them as well but have never seen anyone here with them... I know John (Mottinshaw) loves them a few members contacted him from here fpr pen advice and they mentioned to me he raved about them

But then he sells them lol

The pictures of the Heki-Tanmenuri look so much better than the Ao-Tanmenuri, but I just prefer black over brown....DECISIONS!!!

Lol guessing get both isn't an option... btw those colours age and change according to nakaya website... the more subtle bodies that look black with just slight variations at edges aparently will become more vibrant over time

Thats what I am hoping. The green shows so much better through the brown on the website, but I have a feeling the black will look like that eventually.

Have you ever owned a CI ISaac ?, the soft nib choices have had my interest, or or way out there modified Flex enabled stub just well cause lol

Yeah..i have several cursive italics. The thing is, each person's definition of a cursive italic is different. Im not really sure what the soft nibs really are. I have a feeling i will go with a 7/10 stub.

Soft is very slight flex, from fine to medium depending on pressure, the thing is it doesnt really flex but when you write fast your ascenders and descenders will vary some, just adds character to a regular line, my Pilot does okay at it, with very light pressure it writes finer then my Pelikan fine, with regular pressure, just shy of a Pelikan Medium, and putting a little weight down a bit thicker then a medium. but Id like to play with one of the Nakayas

I've been wanting one of them for ages. They are some of the nicest looking pens around, IMO.

I've been eyeing them for a couple years now. Just when I was about to pull the trigger I got into wet shaving. Now I have a whole new set of ADs!

I have looked at them online, and they look incredibly nice... the price is so absurd to me. I like to think that even if I had loads of money I wouldn't drop that much on a pen. Every little niche has the absurdly "high end" though, so it isn't a surprise, I guess.

you are right I guess, and that is why I haven't bought one (yet). But sometimes I get to thinking... I have dozens of many things, of which I really need one. I have fountain pens, for example, which just sit in a box and never get used. Now, if I was to sell ten of those pens, and use the money to buy one really nice pen, which I use all the time...

The expensive item which is regularly used and enjoyed seems a lot less silly than ten moderately priced items that sit in a box.

The question I generally ask myself is this: will I actually use this?

Well, will I? Take it to work, uncap it (can't really post) and write in my notebook, fill out a report? Or will it be a hangar queen uninked in a tray, or sitting on the desk (without the clip it's gonna roll off).

Pass.

The have one that has a fin built into the cap so that it wont roll off :)

Thats the one I want :( Id feed it ink, and clean up after it, and take walks with it everyday, honest I would no foolin

but it may be a pen for a different time in my life

Same here, but I would probably make an exception for a Nakaya and/or a Pelikan M800 or M1000.

Genius reasoning! I need to sell some pens!

The Decapod wouldn't roll on a flat desk, would it?

Same here.

My desk is too cluttered for anything to roll.

One obvious question, which I cant find mention of on their website, what filling method do those pens use?
