Myrsol aftershaves

I received the Balsamic Water yesterday and really enjoy it. Was wondering if anyone has used the Lemon or Formula K aftershaves from Myrsol. The glass bottles are great as well. I was considering ordering the large bottles from Gift and Care but wanted some opinions about these two before ordering. Thanks.

The entire line of shaving Myrsol, is excellent and has a great reputation in Spain.
will not disappoint.

highly recommended "EMULSION myrsol" per and after shaving. in one product

and gisf & Care is a good seller.

regards

I am awaiting an order from Gifts&Care today - Myrsol AS Balsamic, Lemon, and Formula F as well as Emulsion. I will be able to comment on these soon!

I am impressed with the service provided and delivery time of 2 days from Spain to USA!!! That's better than many USA retailers!
Kudos to Gifts&Care - they will be getting more of my business

I have both the Formula K and Aqua De Limon, both are excellent.
Formula K,very minty scent and decent menthol hit, scent doesn't last long, good if you're going to use a edt.

Aqua De Limon very nice lemon scent and a nice hit of menthol, also not a long lasting scent.

I have both all of them. Of the ones you've mentioned, Agua Balsamica is the one I use the most.... especially when I'm in the good for lavender. It's my favorite take on lavender compared to anything else I've got. The lemon and the Formula K I have but don't use as much. The only reason is because I have so many other aftershaves.... they are both wonderful. Formula K is minty, but not in a Scope mouthwash kind of way. Lemon is a very nice scent as well. Myrsol products are known for a very simple list of ingredients and menthol. They are all very good for the skin and have a nice bracing effect when you apply them. The scents of all of them are not overly strong, but are very pleasant. A couple of them, such as Metilsol, Antesol, and even Agua Balsamica have something of a medicinal scent to them. I enjoy them and this does not bother me. As Gerry mentioned above, the scents are not long lasting and wear off relatively quickly. I highly recommend them, mostly for their skin conditioning characteristics and the old style look of the bottles. The big bottles from Gifts & Care are a helluva deal. I would recommend getting the small 180 ml glass bottle first, and if you like it, get a big bottle of it later. Then you can keep refilling the small bottle from the big bottle. The big 1 liter bottle is glass and is heavy.... so mine just sit in the bottom of my closet until I need to replenish my small bottle. I've never used it this way but another option is to get a barber's atomizer and stick it on the top of the big bottle and set it on your dresser I suppose. I've checked and the barber atomizers that you can get for Floid or Proraso 400 ml bottles do fit on the Myrsol 1 liter glass bottles. Personally, I don't want to be lifting a big heavy glass bottle with slippery fingers and hands and fumbling around trying to get the juice out of it without dropping it on my foot and breaking my toe.... but that's just me :biggrin1: .

Package arrived - all contents carefully packed with bubble wrap and cardboard sleeves ... impeccable.

These bottles are beautiful! Thank you to mistercitizen and malocchio - reading your posts helped convince me to acquire these products. I tried the agua balsamica and emulsion this morning ... they are outstanding.

I also have the balm and enjoy it a lot. I'm more a balm guy, so I can't contribute to the after shaves. The bottle looks and feels really good.

Hope this does not seem like a threadjack, but I am curious if the balsamica lovers (e.g. Malocchio and mistercitizen) feel that the myrsol scent is significantly different in use/on face than in the bottle. After reading raves about it on B&B, I actually planned to buy the agua balsamica when in Pasteur's recently but a sniff from bottle changed my mind. Did i take a fake and sell the potential short? thanks for your input.

Glad you're pleased with the Myrsol! The agua de limon is one of my favorites, and the only Myrsol product I have tried. The scent is nice and genuine and gone by the time I walk away from the sink, just the way I like an aftershave to behave. I've become more and more interested in the emulsion lately as I'm still searching for my ideal pre-shave treatment.

I think that Agua Balsamica has a medicinal aspect to the scent. Compared to say Atkinson's For Gentlemen Aftershave or the scent of Castle Forbes Lavender AS Balm, which have a definite scent of lavender that I think comes from lavender oil, Agua Balsamica is a little different.... more medicinal. The lavender isn't as pungent in it compared to the others. So, I think that out of the bottle, it can come across as medicinal.... but on the skin I think it takes on (ever so slightly) more of an herbal scent. The rosemary and thyme maybe come out a bit. That said, I've never noticed a huge difference between the scent out of the bottle and the scent on my skin after applied.... even though, I do believe they are slightly different as I mentioned previously.

To answer your question, let's talk about aftershave for a second as compared to an edt or cologne splash. With aftershave the scent does not linger and have time to develop on the skin. When we apply aftershave, most of what we pick up in terms of scent is what we are dumping out of the bottle into the palm of our hand and the scent of it as we are applying it to our face. At least for me, after that, it's a bit hard for me to detect much in the following minutes. I think others around are more prone to detecting the lingering scent, but I tend to feel that what we enjoy from a scent perspective with an aftershave splash is the scent we get as we are applying it. Did you sell the potential short for Agua Balsamica? Possibly. I think that every aftershave deserves at least a few wearings to make a determination about it. But, Myrsol aftershaves are not cheapies like AV, Skin Bracer and Old Spice either. $32 is alot to take a chance on it.... although I have spent that much on some I've never smelled at all before and taken a chance on those. Some have been good, some bad. I do believe that what you are getting in Myrsol products is much more than the scent however. They do wonders for my skin in terms of calming razor burn, healing nicks and cuts, and making my face feel smooth and soft (conditioning). My recommendation is to try it if you can afford to and after a few wearings make your decision about the scent. By that time, you may be so impressed with the other qualities of the aftershave that the scent may be somewhat of a secondary consideration.

I'd love to hear about the Formula F. I like the Agua Balsamica. Not really into mint, so probably skip the K.

Formula F/extra reminds me of the Spanish Floids (Vigoroso and Suave) in terms of scent. I think that the "extra" tagged onto the name means extra menthol.... kind of like Floid Vigoroso. I've used it maybe a handful of times so I'm not super familiar with it. It's a very nice one and I prefer it over Formulas C and K personally.

And a hearty thank you to Ben (mistercitizen) for a very helpful detailed response. I have been regretting not giving it a try beyond the bottle sniff, particularly since of late I have been trying to evaluate based more on moisturizing/restorative attributes. I do believe it will eventually find its way to my face. thanks again.

No problem. I do believe in giving an aftershave a full bottle's wearing before making a decision on its eternal fate. But, I can understand the possible economic limitations as well. $32 is alot to spend on a bottle of aftershave when there are so many good ones out there for less money. You simply cannot buy every single bottle of aftershave from every single brand out there.... believe me.... I've tried  .
