The pictures you sent just cant do this razor justice and my pictures are even worse, but here goes. I know it was a valuable razor before but now its priceless to me. If anyone is thinking about getting one of their razors restored dont send it anywhere else.



Also if anyone knows about when this razor was made I would appreciate an educated guess.

No doubt Mark is dastardly with his ability. I'm hooked on him from now on, unreal skill he has.

As to the date - this is commonly known but if it only says "Sheffield" instead of "Sheffield England" that dates it prior to 1890. From there the guesstimating begins. I'll do my best and say why. Hopefully Graybeard comes along. He will date it to the day of the month of the year it was made and tell you the wife's maiden name of the original owner.

Here goes. Yours is a full hollow and my understanding was the manufacturing was not able to do such a full hollow earlier in the century. This is why the straights from the 1700's up to, say 1820 were mainly wedges. That was all they were able to make. So we have narrowed it a bit to be between 1820 - 1890. I feel more confident saying it was made in the latter portion of this timeframe as they likely began with slightly hollow, then medium hollow, working themselves up to full hollow. I'd say 1860 - 1880 is pretty close.
