My worst shave in a long time

I was using the Gillette 7 O'clocks (yellow pack) from a sample pack and found them to be the absolute best.

It was time to try Merkur blades. I did one pass and immediately replaced it with the next blade - Israeli. The end result is the worst shave since I started.

I am going to have put in an order for the Gillette 7 O'clocks (yellow pack) and Feathers. They seem to work the best for me with my EJ89 razor.

its very annoying to get a bad shave out of the blue- especially when you've been at it a while and are enjoying the consistant good results then bam! nothing but red!! i had one just a few days ago.... but i agree you cant let it get you down!! :thumbup1:

mwhals,

In addition to the Russian Gillette 7'o Clocks you have tried, you might also want to try the Russian Iridium Supers.

I have found that both these blades gave (for me) absolutely top-notch shaves in Muhle headed razors (EJ89, Muhle R109).

Have fun !

Best regards

Russ

Usually, if I get a bad shave, its cuz I either rush the shave or am not paying attention while I shave. It's rarely due to the products (although Merkurs can be bad, they are a great teaching blade).

Actually, there was no blood or irritation. It was just a really bad shave in that it wasn't even close to being a DFS. My neck could pass as if I hadn't shaved. I didn't have that problem with Feathers or the Gillettes. To me, it just meant that those particular blades don't work for me. I chalk it up as a learning experience of what not to buy.

The Merkur blade likely did it to you.

When I experiment with combos and get myself in trouble it's usually a bad blade , my newbie technique with a new razor, or a bad reaction to the soap.

Try Iridiums from Bullgoose.

One you scrape skin on a pass with a bad blade like you did with the Merkur, subsequent passes are quite a challenge...

Thats when I turn to the EJ DE89L, Astra SP blade and Pacific Shaving Cream face lathered... and the tough part... forcing myself to stop at DFS, and not go for BBS.
