My Two-Toned Gold Gillette "New" Long Comb - Finished

[2011OBS]

A few weeks ago, I received a 1930's Gillette New from Nick at Sport Shaving. I decided to replate this bad boy and keep the same color pattern of the base metals. This "New" had a pink brass handle, pink brass head, and a yellow brass base plate. I sent it off for a rose gold and 18k gold polished plating and this is the result. The rose/18k gold contrast is quite dramatic in person. I am very happy with the final results. I can't wait to slip a persona med into this bad boy and go. Excuse the fingerprints... it's pretty difficult keeping the mirror finish print-free.

That is pretty darn sweet. I do not like gold, but I am really taken by that rose gold. I think I could love an entire razor plated in that. I love how it looks on the handle and cap. And it looks good with the 18K gold base plate as well.

Congrats on a great looking razor. Now, prepare to shave and never pick up another type of razor again.

After talking with a bunch of jewelry craftsman (actual jewelry makers, not jewelers), I went with red sky because they have the best prices and the best reputation for very pink rose gold.

Very nice! I am quite partial to this, as I had my British New plated in gold for the cap and handle, and rose gold for the baseplate! Deja vu

I will be fitting a med prep in this evening and attacking a 3-day growth. I also have a short comb "NEW" that is in fabulous condition. I anticipate listing that one soon after my shave this evening with this jewel.

Well, she shave like a dream. Pulled off a 3-pass and resulted in BBS. I did get some irritation in an always difficult part of my neck. The blade has a pretty significant exposure and gap. This made this always troublesome part, more challenging. Overall I'm very happy with the "New" addition. I think she'll be my Sunday driver.
