My three brushes - d6e

About a year ago I upgraded brushes, adding a Rooney 3/2 super silvertip badger my Vulfix best badger. What a difference! The density of the Rooney was 2 to 3 times that of the Vulfix. As I got into a daily rotation, I really looked forward to Rooney days and was disappointed on Vulfix days.

However, the Rooney is almost too dense, so this year I began researching B&B and reading reviews, looking for a side by side comparison of densities. I concluded that Shavemac brushes were high quality and somewhat less dense and ordered a SBI-167 23mm knot silvertip badger. The density of this brush is just right for me. If the Rooney is a 10 and the Vulfix a 5, the Shavemac is an 8. It's soft on the face, whips up lots of soap or cream lather, scuttle or face, and easily releases lather to the face.

I now use the Rooney Mon, Wed and Fri; the Shavemac Tue, Thurs and Sat. (Sunday is a day of shaving rest). They are both first class tools, but the Shavemac is my favorite. The Vulfix became my travel brush.

Great brushes. For all that others' reviews and recommendations can point us in the right direction, the only way to find our own sweet spots for brushes is trial and error.
