What's new

My Stash after 4 months of Wet Shaving

Well I've been at this DE shaving thing just over 4 months now.

Since I began I have collected the following...

4 razors
3 shave brushes
4 shaving soaps
over 100 razor blades of different makes
2 shaving mugs
2 scuttle bowls
1 shave cream sampler pack
2 tubes B.O Bigalow shave cream

And yet the beat goes on ! I seem to be adding to my collection at the rate of around $40 per month. I think I have enough gear to carry me well beyond the start of the year.

But it's so much fun to buy new stuff !

I hear ya. Those AD's are somethin' else.

2 razors (EJ DE89L, Merkur Barber Pole)
4 Brushes (VDH, EJ BBB, Omega 10275, Target SMSB)
8 Soaps (TOBS Sandalwood, MB Cocoa, MB Lavender Vanilla, Van Der Williams, Conk Almond & Amber, Cella, Figaro)
1 Cream (C.O. Bigelow)

But, when I think about it... compared to the cost of cartridges... I'll still save money in the long run. I'm good on everything -- well, I am curious about more soaps and a vintage Gillette adjustable. But, I'm able to hold off so far.

This was me, two months in.

I believe there's a Futur and a 34C, as well as a Travel Tech somewhere in there. A Rooney 3/1, and HJM boar, and a VDH Boar. Six soaps, two creams, 5 aftershaves, a couple of lathering vessels... and it all pales in comparison to present day (4 months on here, wet shaving a little longer).

Edit: Oh, 5 colognes and an Injector.

Yes! That's what all say, when they take a moment and realize how much money did they actually spent :lol:

And if I remember one of the top arguments towards DE shaving was that you save lots of money. Yeaaah right! :biggrin1:
Even if you don't save as much many as you think, it is still worth having such a rewarding hobby! And inexpensive in regards to other hobbies

At first I didn't see the mirror, and thought you had 2x as much stuff, I was about to say, it may be intervention time! heh.

Nearly 4 months in, too, and my acquisition disorder is definitely for the the soaps and creams. I have settled on my HD and Astras with a C&E EJ best badger brush. On the counter and in the medicine cabinet I have 2 tubes of Proraso, 2 VDH pucks, 2 Williams pucks, a couple of Truefitt and Hill sample shave creams, samples of the three brushless creams from Lush, a tube of The Body Shop Macca Root cream, a cake of C&E Sandalwood soap, and a GFT Coconut soap. I'm putting a moratorium on the purchases for awhile and I'm going to enjoy rotating these products....unless I see a good deal.... It will be cheaper than cartridges and canned goo in the end!

Oh I have it bad. In about 6 weeks I have two different razors, 4 types of blades, 1 soap, 2 creams, styptic pencils, a pre shave soap, two brushes, witch hazel, an atomiser for the witch hazel, 1 aftershave and sudo creme as a moisturiser.

I've long searched for a storage unit that would fit in my bathroom and now here this is. Perfect. I believe I shall have to build that. How deep are the shelves in the middle, 3.5 - 4"? Looks like the ends are cut off so they're about 1", right? I wonder if it might look better with the laps reversed too (or just turned 90 degrees) ...

Dude I bought the whole thing for $20 at Lowes...

I'm the opposite of most of you guys.

I have one cream & bowl, one soap & mug,a and one preshave cream. I'm Still deciding which I like best.

I have a merkur long handle, though I'm still looking for a heavier, more agressive razor for my coarse stubble

so I have an ever ready 1912 on it's way ($10 shipped woo!). and an aristocrat on it's way too $18.50 shipped! woo again!)

the way I am I'll find my favorite and sell the rest immediately. I have a weird thing were I can't hold on to too many things. My friends make fun of me because I sell so much stuff online.

I was the same way when I first started DE shaving. There was so much I wanted, and of course I just had to get everything and anything. Now after about a year and a half into it things have calmed down and I have just about everything I need or want. I sold a bunch of extra stuff on B/S/T, and pretty much have just what I need.

I still have a few things that I'll be selling on B/S/T after I go through what I have for gear. And of course I'll never say never, because who knows when those AD's might rear their head again. :w00t: :001_rolle

Almost two months in and I think I have my AD under control.

4 razors (Merkur 1904, 1960 SS, 1952 SS, 1980 SS this one I'm going to give to a friend I'm trying to convert, Parker 96R that I don't use anymore)

1 shaving bowl--actually it's a stoneware dipping bowl I picked up at Target it looks neat

1 Old Spice Shaving Mug

3 aftershaves

1 soap

1 brush

1 kind of blade.

Of course, now I have my eye on a Jagger. Seems my AD is focused on razors. :001_rolle
