I've been wanting to try ONE of these out for some time. So with prayers to the shaving Gods I finally was able to go fishing on the bay and blessed beyond my paycheck, get two of them. Yes folks, be careful what you wish for as sometimes they do listen. LOL.
Well, tonight I decided to see if this was a gimmick or if it actually worked. Brushing aside snide comments from the wife such as" You men like vibrating toys?" and other male ego killer comments I soldered on. My wife can be ruthless. SoI lathered up with SOC boar and an old friend Proraso. The original formula I might add and paired it with a Gillette Silver Blue blade. The winding of the TTO was relativly easy and being cautious I didn't exploit it's maximum wind capacity. Perhaps 40% of it's potential. This allowed me to have approxiamtely a solid 30-45 seconds of shave time with it vibrating which coincidentally tappers off signifcantly as the seconds wind down. The vibration does not last at full power throughout it's wind even though old advertisements claim a speed of 3000 oscillations a minute, this is only true in the very beggining.
Ok, the first pass wtg on thirty six hour growth was nothing short of amazing and mowed it down like butter. No tugging or pulling. Subsequent passes passes xtg and then atg was flawless while finishing up with a few touch ups. Putting on my Lucido AS I was rewarded to a nice warm glow. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. As I sit here my intial thought prior to a shave was of a blade slicing me up/down as the power wound down or some other nonsense. Silly. Also, on one or two touchups I decided to not wind it up and used the blade powerless and can tell you the head on this razor is like that of an Aristocrat or a slant. Smooth and forgiving razor with or without the power. This I'm happy to report will be in my stable for the foreseeable future next to my EJ, Red tip, Futur and 58 Flair tip.
Let me touch on ergonomics. The weight of this razor for me was a non issue as it's knurling provided an exceptional grip. The vertical lines that cut deep into the knurling lends itself to a secure grip while wet even though this razor is a beast weighing in at 175g! Those with big hands will find this razors weight and size a welcome. A detour from the dinkyness of other razors. This razor can easily be my daily shaver. Well, any & all comments on your experiences is welcome. Thanks for the read.
