My pure badger brush...is this normal?

When I first got the Omega Stripey Pure Badger it was prickly but stiff. I liked the stiffness but didn't care for the prickly.

Now, after 2 weeks of use everyday it is soft and soft. I knew it would soften but didn't realize the backbone would be gone. The first week it seemed the lather would stay on the upper half of the hairs but now its everywhere. Still lathers great but the control of applying that lather is gone.

If this is normal should I upgrade and to what (at least eventually upgrade...I am spending way too much on this chore become hobby  and both my wife and I don't make enough to upgrade everything at once...lol)

I also have a stripey - and love it. Everyday use of a badger (or boar) brush really isn't enough time for it to dry out completely. You might consider adding a boar or 2 to allow the brush to dry out and stiffen. I consider my stripey to be one of my best lathering brushes. It is stiff and prickly, but not uncomfortable in any way. If it wasn't drying out though, it may get soggy/limp. If you can't get another brush, you might consider moving the brush to a room with less moisture in the air than a bathroom to allow it to dry out better. If you can, go an extra day to see if it becomes stiffer.

good idea...i have tried to take the last two days off of shaving to let an irritation on my neck fix itself but i am addicted to this shaving thing...lol. anyway, i MUST take tomorrow off and see if it helps the brush. thanks

Sounds normal to me. I went back to boar because I actually like the scratchiness of it over what the badgers I had offered.
