My Perfect Shave - $2.50 from a local grocery store...

...after all of the money I have spent online on creams and soaps and blade sampler packs, I found the ingredients for my perfect shave at a local grocery store!

Yesterday, I was driving through a neighboring town at lunch time, when I happened to pass a Roche Brother's grocery store. Always on the prowl for new shaving stuff and hungry for lunch, I decided to drop in to see what I could see.

What I found was a couple of little 1 oz sample bottles of Kiss My Face cream (none of my local Targets carry it) and a pack of Wilkinson Sword Blades. $.99 for the cream (I bought a mint and a lavender) and $1.50 for the blades.

This evening I decided to give my new purchase a test run. I soaked my brush in the scuttle while I showered, emptied the water out of the bowl, put in a double-almond portion of Lavender cream and BOOM...lather explosion. Thick, rich, cushiony lather, the likes of which I have only experienced from the Euro tallow sticks I like so much. Enough for three passes and touch ups, and there was plenty left over that got washed down the sink.

Then there was the blade. The last blade I used in my DE89 was a red pack personna, and I was not as taken with it as many here seem to be. It did OK, but I seemed to need an extra pass and a lot of touch up to get a DFS from it. The Wilkinson Sword blade OTOH was like a laser beam across my face. I was so much closer after the first pass than with any other blade I have yet tried in the DE89. The 2nd pass had me BBS across most of my face, and the third pass got the stragglers. When it came to my neck TU, the problem areas that I have needed repeated TU passes to shave down were almost non existent. One TU pass was all that was needed to kill the few stragglers.

And now, as I type this, I can't stop touching my face. I would have typed it much faster, except that I've been pausing to stroke the smoothness of the shave.

And this, just when I have a tub of Tabac on its way to me...

Hey man,

Nice find and thanks for sharing! Doesn't it always seem to work that way? You try all the heavy hitters and then find Shangri-La at the corner store.

Have a good one~

I'm a month into my DE shaving career/hobby/obsession/habit and I'm currently going through my WCS sampler back. I have to say thus far the Wilkinson Sword Blades I bought at my local BB&B are on par with the 7 o'clock yellows, Feathers and Red Personnas. I actually got my first BBS with these Wilkinson's.

Good job and great find. Enjoy your faceturbation.
