My MWF puck is spinning - Help!

My MWF puck has started spinning in it's ceramic bowl as I load my brush. This makes loading pretty difficult. I thought I was clever, grated the soap, and packed it tightly back into the ceramic bowl. It worked a few times, and them the reconstituted puck started spinning! I enjoy having MWF in my rotation, and like keeping it in it's original ceramic bowl. I know that I could remove the puck from the bowl and hold it, but that's kind of a pain.

I'd appreciate and ideas on how to stop the puck from spinning. Thanks!

I milled mine into a container (I don't have the bowl), no spinning and I find that it makes lathering easier. You could mill it into the ceramic bowl.

have you tried leaving your lather on the puck and letting it dry like that? Mine starts going every once in a while, but once I've let the lather dry in the container, it seems to stay put most of the time.

I had the same problem and pulled the puck out of the dish. I noticed the bottom of my soap had a very light color wrapper holding the soap. The result was my MWF shrunk and began to spin. You can read about it here.

Do you wet the bottom and then put it in? Seems like a fairly easy solution. Ive never had MWF spin, and I have done it grated and ungrated

Water is your friend

I just take the puck out, wet the bottom and build a SMALL amount of lather with the brush and press it into the bowl. Sticks like glue.. havent had any issue. Also, Im new... so it is not time tested, but it seems to work for me so far.

Keep pressing down into the bottom of the bowl. If used daily, it should be easily pressed to the bottom again and again. Or, press it onto the next puck, whatever that might be.

Got pressed onto this:

I can still smell the stuff!

Do you use MWF regularly enough so that the puck doesn’t ever dry out? Or does it completely dry out between uses?

I recently finished off an entire puck of MWF and never had the problem of the puck spinning, but I did notice that whenever I went maybe more than a couple of weeks or so without using it the puck would seem to shrink a little as it dried out – which I’m assuming yours has done if it’s able to spin in the bowl?

By putting a bit of water on top of the puck and leaving it to soak in it seemed the puck would increase a little to fit the size of the bowl again. It’s the same with a brand new puck of MWF which is always a little too small to fit the bowl, but after a few uses (once the puck has absorbed some water) it packs tightly.

If you don’t use MWF regularly enough to prevent the puck drying out then I would add a little bit of water to the bowl every now so that the puck is never completely dry, which should prevent it from shrinking enough to spin in the bowl.

Thanks for all the great ideas gentleman. As I don't use my MFW daily, I shall do my best to water it regularly!

Yeah, I should probably read more than the first sentence next time.

If I go more than 3 days without using mine, it does get loose but I leave the lather on the puck to fill in on the sides and dry out. If you use it regularly, it should sort it out
