My Head Wants A Cadet But My Heart Wants A Fatip

I'm skimming my ebay profits to get a Fatip Piccolo but have now found a UK website selling the Cadet/Pearl which is cheaper, better made and gets better reviews.
Even though on paper the Cadet is clearly the best choice, it just doesn't seem to have the pizazz or class of the Fatip for me and I'm definitely still leaning towards buying the Piccolo.
Any thoughts on this from other OC devotees?

I got a Chrome Fatip Grande that I used today with a Gillette 7 0'Clock Yellow. I put a Parker 91R handle on it for better balance and I also use a Parker 98R handle on it as well.

Down the road (maybe for Fathers Day) I'm going to get the Cadet Robusto, I already have the Cadet Santa Fe TTO and I like it a lot, it's well built. There's a big thread on here that deals with using different handles on different Fatips with lots of great pictures. That in itself might help you to decide.

.....in other words, buy them both if you can, you won't go wrong.

just buy them both

Naturally! But that just begs the question...

Which one to buy first?

I'd say go with your heart. After you have one, your head will make a more rational decision. If you start with the one your head wants, you know in your heart you'll end up with both.

Well, you'll probably end up with both anyway, but at least my way it'll be easier to rationalize it.

After being greatly persuaded by this and other threads, my newly requested Fathers Day present arrived early:

Fatip Grande is my Monday shaver - (don't shave on a Sunday). It's OC design cleans up the growth easily.

I've got a hankering to try a Cadet OC too though...

fatip i own both i prefer the fatip myself but with a heavier handle.

Hiya! I have a FaTip and a Cadet?RR also. I prefer the FaTip with a Weber handle. And---drum roll please---here's the link for you:http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/300217-Joris-Fatip-lovers-reviews-and-pics-thread!

$IMG00904-20130617-1021.jpg

As well as being the closest, smoothest shave I've ever had, it's the first truly irritation free shave I've had in 30 years!

My small hands actually enjoyed the stock handle but I'm gonna try it with others as recommended.
Ironically, I did think about buying a Cadet this morning just for the handle, and I probably will end up with both razors, but the FaTip has truly blown me away- I didn't know shaving could be like this :biggrin1:

I've actually also just bought a Pakistani stainless steel bulldog handle off ebay, so I'll let you know how it goes with that ...

Ha ha - my kids got me a Pearl SS-04 aka Cadet for Xmas, so as everyone predicted I've ended up with both.
And the advice to follow your heart first, because if you follow your head you'll just be dissatisfied, has proved to be useful in other areas of life too.
