I got my Futur in the mail last night after waiting an excruciatingly long Labor Day weekend for it to arrive. Rainman hooked me up with some blades too, but I thought for my first shave I'd go with a Personna red pack as I've already gone through three blades in my Merkur classic. Minimize the variables and all that. Showered and prepped. After loading the blade (easy to do and I like the spring loaded mechanism) I lathered up with some Trumpers coconut cream, I'm really getting the hang of building lather. Looked at the settings on the razor and adjusted it to about 1.5, slightly larger than the gap on my Merkur classic, but only slightly terrifying. (If I ever crank that thing to 6, I'll either carve my face off or it's because I'm turning into an ape).
On to the shave... This bad boy is HEAVY. Makes it very easy to allow it to glide down my cheek or to slice off the head of a tyrannical king. I took my time and got a nice pass WTG. Rinse, relather, XTG pass with relative ease. Got a little cocky and did ATG on my cheeks, but not the neck or chin today. Good success, no weepers or burn. Alum block, witch hazel, every man jack AS to finish up. Nearly BBS on the cheeks and overall a DFS.
I think I'm gonna really like shaving with the Futur well into the, um, future.
