My first strop

Picked this up along with a bunch of other toys from a local antique shop, and just finished cleaning up the hardware and oiling the leather with Neatsfoot.

Should I do anything with the Linen other than "use it"?

Here's the bunch:

it still looks a little dry. I think I remember people talking about rubbing in lather (from tallow soaps) and then rolling it out - double check that before doing it though

I didn't oil the back of the leather or do any sort of "cleaning" of the linen.

Strop-meisters, is there anything special I should do there? Should I oil the entire leather strop front and back? Should I wash the linen in any manner?

Thanks for any additional tips.

I would take that linen off, and clean it with some lather and a soft brush. It doesn't look bad. I'd let someone else that is better with leather answer that.
