My first restoration = w/ pics

Hey guys,

Here is my first restored brush. I purchased this one off the bay and it needed some tlc...

First thing i did was give it a good cleaning then i filled in the lettering with testors paint. After that I sanded it with 400 grit up to 2500. Then I used Meguiars Ultimate Compound to get this bad boy all shined up and then used Meguiars Gold Class Liquid Wax for the final touch.

To fill the handle i used epoxy with some coins to give a little extra weight. Once that set i cut a cork so that the knot would sit at the perfect loft then epoxied that and the knot to the already hardened epoxy in the handle. I'm not exactly sure what the loft is but i think it looks pretty good for a face lathering brush.

I've got a few more brushes that i'm working on, so i'll update this thread as they're finalized.

Here are the results!

Thanks guy!

I used a tgn 22mm finest knot.

As as for the loft, I eyeballed it...

The next tool on the list is definitely a digital caliper!

Thanks again guys! I'm very happy with the way it turned out.
I'll be giving it a test run tomorrow. It'll be my first time trying a TGN knot, can't wait to see what all the hype is about.

Sometime eyeballing it works out better than getting too obsessive about how many tenths of a millimeter higher or lower it should go. Well done!
