So reading over the numerous threads on selecting a first straight-edge razor I finally bought one! I chose the Dovo 5/8", round-point, full-hollow ground. Superiorshave.com is where I got the Dovo Silversteel model razor:

It is being sent out professionally honed and shave ready which will make my first dive into straights bit easier. I have been wet shaving for just over a month using a safety de razor. I watched many straight edge shaving videos and have even fiddled with a parker shavette for my last 3 shaves. I am pleased to say I only nicked
myself once while working the area between my top left upper lip and nose.
Anyhow I felt going X-grain and against the grain required a lot more finesse than straight down on my first pass. Funny thing was my left hand shook a bit at first lol but I managed to stop it and continue on with the job. I was pleased with my self and build a lot more respect for the straight edge!
So did I make a good decision on my first straight?
I am planning on buying this strop from amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DYM5TG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_7?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Any opinions on it?
Cheers and Happy Shaving
