My first clean up

Ok I've polished aluminium before but not razors this is a little tougher but I'm not done yet!:001_smile. I do have a couple questions, is this a wedge? My dad has a straight like this and i posted pics of it and someone mentioned it was like a wedge or quarter wedge. I'd like to get the spots out but I'm worried about the etching and damaging the razor, any suggestions? I'm sanding by hand on the blade on the tang i used a dremel with a wire wheel to remove some heavy rust that was there. On a good note before i started it looked like this was never honed or they used tape the spine was scratch free and the blade was visibly chip free and had no rust on it! I'm going to send this out to be honed when I'm done. Thanks for any info and I hope my terminology was correct this is my first straight. I have a few more pics if anyone needs a different angle thanks again!

Okay, Just by looking at the etch tells me that this is not a wedge razor, Note the words "hollow ground" in the etching? yeah, That signifies it to be anything but a wedge, A wedge has a straight edge from the spine to the edge, this will have a slight curve in the metal in that point, It's likely a quarter grind.

I'm guessing that in order to get a full mirror polish on the blade, you're going to have to lose the etch, unfortunately. the pitting is just too deep to really do anything else.

Apart from that, it's a nice looking razor, I'm guessing it's a Sheffield Made?

Yes it is sheffield I've been told they are good shavers I hope so. I think I'm going to send it out to have it finished maybe go with some new scales. Thanks for the reply!
