My closest shave yet

Got my closest, smoothest most comfortable shave yet yesterday with the Lothantique soap and a new Derby blade. Tried the witch hazel pre-shave thing and I think it helped too. I'm am just sold on this soap. I'm only about a month in so I'm wondering if the big difference is that this is my first soap as as opposed to the creams I was using, or if it is this soap in particular.
For any of you that are familiar with this soap, do you have suggestions for soaps with a similar type scent and shaving properties?

And I should mentioned I switched to face lathering with the soap, it seems to be working well. Not sure if that is making the difference.
