My 3 Antique store straight finds!

After browsing my local antique store that I visit every other weekend I came across these 3 straights. I wanted them instantly and had the store call the vendor to make a deal. I negotiated under $100 dollars for the 3 of them. All 3 straights have whale bone scales which I love. I know for sure the blades need to be polished up and conditioned but I’m happy with them even if they cant be made to give a great shave. I believe 2 out of the 3 will clean up nicely though, maybe all 3. All 3 also have their original boxes. These are the firsts straights I’ve purchased besides my Diamondine from Gentlemen’s Best that I use to shave now. Any further information you guys can offer is appreciated as always. How'd I do? Pictures are below...

The first straight is marked “The J.R. Torrey Co.Worcester Mass”

I am also a big fan of bone scales. Torreys and Tons Gems are both good vintage razors. I've never owned a Radiumite.

I think you got a decent deal. $30-40 for a decent condition vintage straight in good condition bone scales is a fair price.

Nice score. They should all clean up well enough to give you years of service. I had a Torrey with the same blade and it was a great shaver. Enjoy.

I'm looking forward to cleaning them up!

Another view without comment !

Yep worth it for the scales alone...:thumbup1:

Oops, I commented !!! :001_smile

I figured even if the blades ended up completely useless you can't go wrong with 3 whale bone scales.

Those look great. Are they going to be use functionally or just a restoration project? They all look like they are in pretty good shape. The whale bone scales are great! Good find!

I guess I know where you'll be spending a bunch of time cleaning these beauties up.......:001_rolle

I'll bring the elbow grease.

I'd love to be able to shave with all 3 of them if restoration allows for it. If not I'll just clean them up and they can be a nice start to my collection.

that's pretty legit. The whalebone is EXCELLENT imo.The thought of whalebone alone is enough to make it cool, add to that the look and it's a hell of a score

Nice score! I have a 7/8" Torrey and it is probably my favorite razor. It is a very smooth shaver.
