Munich - what to buy?

I'll be spending a week or so in Munich, Germany in August. What shaving supplies should I purchase? I'm hoping that someone can recommend a specific store in Munich that may specialize in shaving gear.

For software, I'm DEFINITELY getting Speick products, Tabac, Irisch Moos, Gold Dachs, Dr Dittmar, Palmolive sticks, and Wilkinson sticks. This is assuming I can easily find this stuff in the usual places like grocery stores, drugstores, and department stores.

For hardware, I'm interested in Muhle razors and brushes but have read that they're hard to find. Also, are they actually cheaper in Germany?

I was just there last month. Check out Mueller Drugstore on Marienplatz for all sorts of goodies there.

I definitely will. I think our hotel is not too far from Marienplatz so that is very convenient. What goodies did you manage to snag? I'm going to pick up a bunch of stuff; it'll be like a kid in a candy store. I can't wait!

I picked up some Wilkinson Sword Aloe Vera cream, Spieck cream and shave stick (very nice), Riva ASB, Irisch Moos cream, Florena and Nivea cream, a brush stand (dirt cheap at around 1.45 Euro), and a cheapo DE razor. I skipped the Tabac because of the comments about the smell (in reviews), and I'd already picked up a couple tubes of Palmolive when I was in London last December. As I recall, there was quite a bit more, but I wanted to save some for next time.

Last time I was there several years ago I found a shop full of Solingen stuff, knives and so on. I wasn't into shaving back then so I don't know if they had razors. Can't tell you where it was but I think it wasn't far from the Hofbräuhaus

The best things to buy in München are beer and sausages. Once you have your fill of them, head to the Viktualienmark and visit this little store. Another place worth a visit is Manufactum which is in the heart of the shopping area. Müller's Apotheke is a good suggestion and they may have most of the software which you are seeking. You will find razors in plenty of stores, but just check the prices before you leave home- they may be a worthwhile buy as a souvenir, but are probably as expensive (if not more so) as in a good on-line store.
Keep your eyes open around the city- there are quite a few small stores which carry interesting stuff.

There are about 40 DM-stores im Munich, so you can't be far from one of them. Large drugstores but surely with many of the products you wanted.

You guys are the best! Direct links are VERY helpful since I obviously don't have a good sense of the city.

And don't worry, I'll be drinking tons of beer and eating a lot of sausages. But I want something to bring home for myself too. And if the prices are as low as I've read, then I'll have a few things to PIF to this community
