What's new

muhle razor price hike.

I noticed TheSuperiorShave.com jacked up the price from $45 to $61, which leads me to wonder if they did this after selling out of the the ones they got cheaper or if they raised the price on the cheaper ones they already bought. I was planning on finally buying this razor next month but won't touch it now. Instead, I'll get one of the new American made Weber razors for $55.

Must be a US thing; prices in Euros on their own website remained the same since their introduction in november '08 (29.50). So I don't really see how Mühle can be blamed for that.

the Muhle open comb for 51.00 usd @ Merz in Chicago--and yes, it is worth it. Closed combs were higher--in that 60 usd range--made the decision easier.

When I was shopping a couple of weeks ago everyone except SS was at $61 so I ordered the R106 @ $45. (including shipping) I don't know how he was staying in business @ $45 unless everyone else was screwing us. The first class priority package cost him $3.95.

I can't believe the fit and finish on the razor it's absolutely perfect.

Thanks for the heads up, I just nabbed one.

All the others were $61.00

I wouldn't single them out. Unless, of course, you can show a place that didn't raise the price.

Well admittedly I can't "show" any other place as I only saved Superior's link due to the price. But that has nothing to do with my question at hand of raising the price on the stock they already had on hand, stock which didn't cost them anymore.

I also don't believe Muhle raised the cost for retailers since so far, none of the others have actually went up nor have any of the foreign sites.

I just think Superior is falling in line with everyone else, which isn't a bad thing as they are a business and I can't fault them for needing to stay in business. Just not at my expense.

West Coast Shaving $61
Nashville Knife Shop $61
Best Grooming Tools $61
Royal Shave $54.95 + $5.95 shipping
Fedrihan $56.66 + shipping

you ever notice that gasoline will jump up 25 or 30 cents with the stock they already have in their tanks? if you brought a 100 shares of a particular stock at $10 years ago and now it's $50 a share will you sell it to me at $10 because thats what you paid for it?

I know all the online places I checked they were at $61 and SS was at $45 including shipping. I just checked the Muhle site and the razors are listed at $61 for chrome and $68 for Blk. Maybe they got spanked by Muhle?

Same prices they've already been. As far as I can tell, the only one to actually change was Superior.

Same thing at amazon.de and other online retailers: around 29 Euros, the same it's always been.

Hi

We were (unwittingly and accidentally) the last to abide changes to the Muhle brand. The comment of "Same prices they've already been. As far as I can tell, the only one to actually change was Superior." is at best myopic.

This price change was, indeed, based upon "the cheaper ones we already bought". While offering an exceptional selling price before the change, this tiny company was accepting an absurdly-low profit in the desperate times of a harsh economy. We and every other vendor made these 'voluntary' price changes upon stock which was "already bought".

Faithfully committed to neutrality, of course, moving forward I certainly do expect all of you gents whom commit to buy anything upon our site for which the selling price of the stock "we already bought" was reduced to cheerfully abide by our requests of you to instead pay the prior higher price we'd had listed.

thanks!

I ordered the black handled R106 from TheSuperiorShave.com about two weeks ago and on my invoice they actually said I was one of the lucky ones to get it at that price before they had to bring the price up to $61. Makes me think there may have been some pressure on them to either sell it at that price or be out of luck for procuring more stock.

That said... for me it's a wonderful razor and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
Even at $61.

When I last looked they were $43.95, and they had recently changed to that from $41.95. Now they're $60+ at every vendor.

Come to think of it, it might have started when Baxter of California priced their branded Muhle at $60.
