Muhle r89 + Astra SP. I'm in love.

I recently posted a thread saying I was a convert but now I'm just in love. I absolutely love my r89 and after about 2 weeks of shaving and 4 shaves with the astrs sp under my belt I'm just in love. Today is probably the best shave I've ever had from any tool i've ever owned. Redness and irritation on my neck is at an all time minimum too. I'm absolutely loving this setup. On top of it all, I really enjoy the 10 or so minutes it take to shave, I just hope it never gets old. lol.

I have the Baxter labeled version of the R89. Put an Ikon Bulldog handle on it. The razor performs well with a wide range of blades. The R89 head could serve you well for your entire life. Good choice.

I don't have an R89, but the EJ89 w/ the Astra SPs is magical too. This thread makes me want an R89 Grande.

i like the idea of a thicker handle but i feel like i'd hold the regular one more delicately, plus now it's more head heavy, which also seems helpful.

I want to join the chorus and also sing praises to the Muhle R89. The workmanship and chrome finish are outstanding, and shavewise it's a perfect balance between mildness and aggressiveness. I have yet to cut myself with the R89. Any decent blade works well. I'm a little surprised that Muhle is not more common and popular, similar to Merkur. Muhle is certainly deserving!

I have the Edwin Jagger DE89 and it is quite nice with an SP. One of my go to combos when you need a great shave without much thought.

I love Astra SP blades. You've got quality equipment and I'll put you in the "win" column as another person delivered from the typical drug store and department store shaving fare.

The EJ DE89 and Astra SP is a great combination for me. It's a failsafe shave for me, when it has to be close with no risk of nicks or irritation.
That rose gold model is really pretty, patterning looks like the barley handle on the EJ.

While I love the R89, for me it performs best with Personna Platinum Chrome blades. That is the perfect combo for me!
