Mug warmer for hot lather?

Has anyone tried setting their lather bowl on a mug warmer/candle warmer for hot lather? Thoughts?

Seems like an interesting enough idea. Personally, I don't want a electronic gadgets on the countertop while I'm shaving but it's certainly a good concept in heating your lather. For under $10, it's cheaper than most scuttles.

I have used a coffe cup warmer, very similar to the candle warmer. It did keep the lather warm, very warm and tended to dry it out so that I would have to add a couple drops of water to the lather and work it in before the third pass and sometimes the second.

After getting a real scuttle, I don't have to rework the lather.

Great idea but I wonder just how effective could it possibly be in the 10 or 15 minutes it takes to shave?

As stated above, the problem with these coffee warmers is they dry out the lather. Some time back, I read a review about a coffee warmer being sold by Amazon. The buyer/reviewer said it wouldn't keep coffee hot, that it barely kept coffee warm. So, I ordered it! It was a bad coffee warmer, but a great adjunct for lathering.

These coffee warmers, even those that heat too much, are great for lather in my opinion. If they are too hot, experiment with something inserted between the mug/bowl and the heating plate. Maybe, 20 layers of aluminum foil. Maybe, a piece of tin cut to shape. Maybe, get a mug/bowl with a deeper ceramic base. You will eventually find the right combination.

I have also used potpurri pots that heat to good effect. They heat a little more slowly though. Recently, I bought a cup with heating element used to melt wax with scent. Haven't tried that yet.
