Mug, Bowl, Scuttle question

I'm a newbie here and I have been reading a lot on these forums but I have yet to come across an answer to this question.

I know that you can use a Mug, bowl, or Scuttle for making a nice rich lather - seen the images - very impressive.

Where do you store your hard cake of soap after use? Do you leave it in the mug/bowl/scuttle?

I'm looking at all the accoutrements of wet shaving and want to maintain a fairly neat bathroom for the sake of my marriage.

Lots of options, but the coolest looking by far is an Old Spice mug. No longer produced, so you'll have to hit the thrift/antique shops in the area or bid on one on everyone's favorite auction website.

That's IMHO, at any rate. Some soaps come with their own wooden bowls. Personally, I was wandering around at wal-mart and found a carved stone "incense" bowl in the craft section that I've got my plain VDH soap puck in.

Welcome! Lots of options. Look at this page in the wiki. You can find plastic and glass containers that size that have snap-on lids. If you don't have that fancy thing they use, just use a cheese shreader/grater. Many soaps, Tabac for example, come in their own containers. Glycerin soaps like VDH can be melted into the same containers putting them into the microwave for 5 seconds.

Thanks for all the responses - it helps when deciding on making purchases.

Also, Mama Bear sells what she calls a travel container. It's the same thing all her soaps come in. It's a 4oz, double walled plastic container with a black plastic screw-on lid. These can be purchased for peanuts from some online cosmetic container vendors. I have about 10 soaps stored this way with labels on the outside. They stack nicely and look nice and neat. Most pucks fit neatly, but if they don't, I just trim the edge to fit, or in the case of small pucks like Provence Sante, I grate or slice (food processor also works) the soap and press it into the container. Welcome to B&B!

EDIT: This is the one you want, but be aware that you need to add lids (these) to your order too.
