Mühle 39k256?

Muhle makes great synthetic silvertip brushes. I own two of them
A 21 and 25 mm. Both bought from Connaught Shaving. Paul Mayhew is great to deal with. Fast shipping and great service.

Those silvertip fibers are great.

You can read through a couple of reviews here.
IIRC the 21 mm comes highly recommended.
I like the 23mm and the 25mm I have best.

Connaught Shaving is top notch and great prices too. I have had 6 orders from them and most arrived here in Mass in about 10 days.

Like stated earlier Paul is a great guy to deal with.

I'm looking for a short loft as both of my brushes come in 56mm, so 19x48 or 21x52, what you guys recommend for this type of brush? 19mm perhaps less dense and not recommended?

That is a nice brush, but if you want backbone, why not order a Frank Shaving synthetic custom brush: 24/48mm
Check it out, here, post #19: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showth...emed-week-quot-29th-October-4th-November-2012
Best brush for the money. You can get it shipped to you for under $25.

Better deal for sure. I do own a FS synthetic in a 28/50. I'm not convinced yet my FS generates lather easier than my 25mm Muhle. If anything, I find the Muhle easier to use. Agreed that the FS has more backbone though. Not sure if I miss it in the Muhle, I just use my fingers to reinforce the brush when building the soap on my Muhle and then on the face it is heavenly. You wouldn't go wrong either way in my oppinion but the FS is indeed cheaper.

Nothing wrong with a 19mm as a well made brush will be dense enough. Just keep in mind that the synths will perform smaller than a Badger brush of the equivalent size. I believe the difference is 3 mm difference. So a 21 synth will feel like a 18 or something like that in a Badger. If you like smaller brushes that is cool. I prefer something more medium size myself just for ease of application and lather generating ability.

I do have a FS brush, the popular Silvertip 28x52 (corrected, i do have a 52 mm brush!) cost be a hefty 52 bucks! But it lacks backbone and i have to use a lot of soap to get the same amount of lather even after 2 or 3 minutes of swirling. On the other hand, my other brush (and first!) is an Omega Sythn 24x56 which is nice, it has backbone and it scratches the soap as a champ and generates lather almost instantly, but the loft is too long for my taste.

Perhaps getting a 21x52 synth which is a little more rigid will avoid the fibre "expansion" on my face with the same pressure force im experiencing with the natural silvertip and is a good compromise between the long 24x56mm synth and natural 28x52 mm Silvertip.

The 21/52 Synth is indeed more rigid and has been very favorably reviewed (the Muhle). Wouldn't be a bad choice at all.

When you shorten a loft on any given brush knot you will make it stiffer, yes. But stiffness in a brush depends a lot on materials used also and how densely the brush is packed.

+3 In synthetic brushes, because the fibers are solid, thinner fibers allow for a greater number per a given knot size. Thinner fibers make for greater density and greater backbone, and the lofts can be shorter than what we have seen to date. Look for improved fibers to appear in the near future.

Hummm, hummm, i'm leaning towards the 19x48 just because the shorter loft will give me some better control. Dammit! I'll buy it and let you guys know! If i do not like it i'll purchase a 21, then a 23, then a... who said DE shaving is cheap?

Well my 21mm Muhle Synthetic was great for control and backbone. I just prefer the 25 for face feel and lather generating ability. The 25 is softer and more floppy though. Not too bad in my oppinion. I just use my fingers to stiffen the spine when using a hard soap like Mikes.

just ordered the 19 mm 39k256 as a travel brush. I needed a brush that dried out quicker than the small silvertip I was using. I'll post my experience after next week's trip.
