What's new

Moving is no fun.

18 years in one place, and I am amazed at the amount of junk that we've amassed. Finding stuff I forgot about ten years ago. Funny thing, though, we started putting stuff out to the road for trash pickup a few hours ago, and half of it's already gone from people passing by asking if they can have it. I guess the old saying about one man's junk is another man's treasure has some truth to it.
Here's a pic of the new, and hopefully last homestead-

N also tends to lose things during a move as well. When my family moved from Florida to Indiana we "lost" an entire box of items. The movers also broke my Fathers chest of drawers because they thought it would be a good idea to store the drawers in the chest for a cross-country move.

I'll agree, moving is no fun at all. Not that I've moved all that much, but I still have things boxed up from 2 mover ago. Wonder if I'll ever get to them. We've been in this house for 12 years now, and I plan on my next move being that of going to the underground condo. :a2:? :devil2:?

Tell me about it. After 16 years in the military...you'd think you get used to it...but it actually gets harder and harder. Good luck with the move!

Nice house! I've despised every move except the first one from my parents house. I fit everything in a Chevy S-10 with room to spare.

Thanks, guys! One neighbor has already made three raids on our junk pile at the road. Glad to see someone can still make use of some of it. Hopefully this will all be wrapped up by next weekend and we can get a little break!

Yep! Moved from Florida to Louisiana to California to Virginia to Florida to Washingon State to Virginia to Italy to Nebraska! Happy to have stayed put here for about 30 years now!!! (Gosh, has it been that long?)

Same house for 30 years now, but I still remember trip after trip after trip into that little apartment, wondering where that stuff all came from, and would I ever get it all??? After Mom died, I paid movers to bring the goods, expensive and worth every blessed penny

Amen to that. I moved three times in the last two years. I was in my previous house for 17 years (moved from WI to SC) and donated and/or dumped lots of stuff by the curb. And like you, over half of it got snagged by whomever. I put two bowling balls out there...gone! Really? They'd been sitting in the garage for over ten years. I'm guessing some of it got listed on CL or sold at rummage sales. I was just happy to see much of it not going to the landfill.
