Most common DE razor used amongst us?

What would you say is the most commonly used Safety razor on here and why
is this?

What razor gives you the most comfortable smooth sailing shave?


Just curious, with the huge array of safety razors out there...

But I want to know which razor gets the most use, serveral collectors might
have gillette slims or fatboys but for example use their merkur 38c and so on
more.

Probably a Super Speed is the most commonly used.
I prefer Gillette Old Type and it gives me the best shaves. I am not in the majority.

For DE user I'd guess the top three would be Gillette SuperSpeeds and Techs.

As for Merkur the HD.

Again, that is just a guess.

yes it does appear to be the most used DE razor only because it has been reviewed the most here out of many other razors.

The black handles Gillette Super Speed seems to give me my most comfortable shave right now. That and a Fat handled Tech.

It is probably a toss-up between my 40's style super speeds and the NEW.

I know exactly what you mean.

I collect vintage Gillettes (and other brands,) but I SHAVE with Merkurs.

Spot on for me. My favorite (at least right now) and also probably most used is the Old Type (Double Rings, Single Rings, ABC Pocket Editions, Bulldog and Big Fellows, even that covers a lot of ground).

But I'd bet the Super Speed (all varieties included) is the most commonly used here.

That's a tough one.

More than likely all Gillettes, since they are the most commonly available, but in no particular order:

1. Tech (especially for new DE converts).
2. Some version of a Super Speed.
3. Toss-up between the NEW and Old Type.

Just my two pence worth.

tech for me 20 years same one
now use a slant bar firm favorite and use the tech for trimming up
try to use a differant one every day.
super speeds are great.
slim adjustables are great to.

I'm guessing that by "safety razor" you mean double-edged safety razor, thus excluding cartridges, injectors, or single-edged razors, all of which can be considered safety razors.

With that restriction, my favorite is a Gillette New, just because it's given me the best shaves of any DE so far. From what I read around here, that would be a popular choice, but probably not number one. As somebody said a few posts back, a poll would be the way to find the most popular.

at this point i would use (with probability of use equally distributed) a fatboy, merkur 23c, fat handled tech, hoffritz slant or gillette OLD open comb at the drop of a hat. i'm still in my trying-out phase and i like em all!
