I have to say that I had very positive first impressions using MWF, but after nearly 3 months of daily use My opinion has wavered. My first impressions of MWF were of a soft scent that was not offensive, amazing thick lather that did an amazing job at softening my skin. I assume that this was due to the lanolin, but the why isn't so important.
Pros-- The most common complaint I heard was that MWF is difficult to lather, but with my super soft water I had zero difficulty. It was easy to bring the lather flowing fourth, whipping it up in generous and thick amounts that would leave my skin feeling soft.
Cons-- Though it does a great job at leaving my skin soft, it does a poor job at protecting it. Though it is a slick soap with a lot of cushion, there is some reason that after my shaves my upper lip always has tiny spots of blood due to insensible cuts. Also, If I shaved every day my face did not have enough time to heal and I would invariably get razor burn on the 3rd day on. No matter how softly I handled my razor, or zero pressure I used, I would still cut myself and invariably get razor burn.
After aproximately 3 months of only using MWF, I got some Art of Shaving unscented cream and got the most amazing BBS shave with no cuts or razor burn so it made me try other soaps. I got incredible shaves with AOS unscented cream, Cella, and Arko...but for some reason am completely unable to obtain the same shaves with MWF. I have gotten a couple decent shaves, but nothing that has left me feeling my face in awe afterwards. MWF is an amazing soap on paper, but for some reason it just is not able to live up to the hype once I tried other soaps. I do say that the best part of using MWF exclusively for 3 months was that It helped me learn a lot about how to lather soaps, and also helped to understand how much difference a brush makes while lathering.
