Mitchell’s Wool Fat Sample Idiot Proof Lather

This is probably obvious to everyone except me. So, I was PIFed a generous sample of Mitchell’s Wool Fat and had some doubts as to what to do with it. The common advice seemed to be to grate it into a mug and go at it with a brush, either with Marco’s method or Mantic’s method in his video.

However, I’m unique just like everyone else so I didn’t bother. I somehow managed to get copious amounts of lather the same way I get copious amounts of lather with any soap sample or even whole soaps that may frustrate me sometimes. Since I’m in a silly mood, I will post it as if I’m posting instructions for a secret method passed down by Indian master tigers.

The Bengal Tiger 12 step method.

1. Fill up a bowl with warm water and soak brush.

2. Take out softened brush, gently shake it up and down to release excess water.

3. Wet face thoroughly with warm water. Your face should be very wet.

4. Take MWF sample in hand and dip it into warm water bowl.

5. Rub the soap on your wet stubbly face as if it were a shave stick or facial soap.

6. Make sure you get a thin coating all over your stubble.

7. Take your damp brush and start working it on your face in circles.

8. Don’t brush in any one place for more than a few seconds at a time. Keep moving in circles all over your face and watch the lather build.

9. Enjoy your incredibly rich creamy moisturizing lather.

10. Have a great shave

11. Stick your sample back in a ziploc bag or tupperware so it doesn’t dry out.

12. Let SWMBO appreciate your soft smooth moisturized face. :ladysman:

This method works with just about any soap and any brush. Lots of soap straight to your wet face yields excellent lather. Its idiot proof, really. :smartass:

I have done the same thing after the puck gets down to the bottom and little is left but a ring. I break the ring up into pieces and save them. great for a travel kit or just at home. I do drop the soap piece into the water with the brush while I'm in the shower and that way it's soft all the way around and easy to apply to the face.

Very glad it worked for you
I couldn't seem to get it to work no matter what I tried
Face lather or bowl or warm or cold, just gave up and PIF'ed it away haha
but I am glad you are getting good shaves out of it rather then me just using lots of it and getting no where
Its one soap that won, maybe I'll revisit it someday

Oh yeah it's a fantastic moisturizing soap. From what I've read, most of the problems come from it getting dryed out and hardened on top. Dipping the whole thing in warm water to soften (or just use it every day) should help keep it usable. And rubbing a wet soap on a wet face just works. The stubble pulls off the right amount of soap, and the soap to water ratio tends to work out very naturally.
